1 Study system requirements and operation requirements of one-to-many operation

Formulate concept of operations by referring to various systems outside of Japan. Formulate system/operation requirements and conformity certificate methods assuming one-to-many operation.

2 Develop drone flight operation system suitable for one-to-many operation

Use the Smart drone Platform being developed by KDDI as a base to build an drone flight operation system necessary for one-to-many operation.

3 Obtain approval for permits to conduct flight verifications

Collaborate with drone manufacturers to obtain drone certificate and certificate of drone operator skills for Category II operation.

4 Flight verification envisioning multiple drones flying simultaneously in multiple airspaces

Conduct flight verifications of multiple drones flying simultaneously in logistics and security use cases.

5 Verify commercial feasibility of one-to-many operation

Hold verification tests of commercial feasibility of one-to-many operation that includes the introduction and maintenance of conformity certificate methods.

6 Summarize results

Summarize results in conjunction with R&D item ① (3) Development of conformity certificate methods toward one-to-many drone operation.

Final goal (FY2024)

  • Verify multiple drone operators to multiple aircraft operation pursuant to Category II, and operation in multiple airspaces.
